The questions people ask us most
These are the questions candidates ask before they apply, answered the way our recruiters say it out loud. If yours is not here, ask it on your interview; nothing is decided on that call.
Can I get a remote insurance job with no experience?
Yes. Every role on this page is open to people who have never worked in insurance. The agencies we recruit for train you on the products and the process, pair you with a mentor who sits in on your early conversations, and help you get licensed. What they cannot teach is being good with people, which is why teachers, servers, nurses, retail managers, and parents going back to work do so well here.
Is this a real job or a scam?
Real. NextPlay Recruitment is a recruiting firm, and these roles are with licensed insurance agencies we work with directly. Nobody will ever ask you for money to apply, to interview, or to start. The only cost in this career is your state insurance license, which you pay to the state and a course provider, and which belongs to you wherever you go. Our guide to spotting job scams explains the difference in two minutes.
How does the pay work?
These roles are commission based and you work as an independent contractor (1099). That is the normal way insurance advisors are paid, and it is the reason the ceiling is high: when a policy you helped a family put in place is issued, the insurance company pays a commission on it. First client, first commission. Most people set a slice of each payment aside for taxes, and our free 1099 tax calculator does the math. To compare against an hourly job, try the commission vs. hourly calculator.
Do I need a license, and how long does it take?
You need a life and health insurance license from your state, and most people get it in two to four weeks of evening study. It usually costs a few hundred dollars all in, and many agencies reimburse it. Pick your state below for the exact steps, costs, and official links, or start with How to Get Your Life and Health Insurance License. You can apply before you are licensed; the agency helps you through it.
Can I start part time and keep my current job?
Yes, and most people do. Licensing is evening study, and early client conversations fit around a day job, on evenings and a Saturday. You decide about going full time after you have seen real results, not before. Every role on this page is open to full-time or part-time schedules.
What does the work actually look like?
You talk with families who have asked for help with life insurance or other coverage, usually by phone or video from home, and you help them find the right fit. Think listening and explaining, not pressure. There is no office and no commute. You set your own hours around the appointments you book.
What happens after I apply?
You go straight to one agency's page to book a short video interview, where you meet the team, hear how the role and the pay work, and ask anything you want. Nothing is decided on that call. You bring a resume and about a minute of your time; we handle the rest.
Get licensed in your state
Pick your state to see the steps in order, what each one costs, and the official links. We have checked 15 states so far; every other state gets the official link.
This page is general information to help you decide, not tax, legal, or licensing advice. Pay figures are estimates and results vary. Rules change and vary by state, so confirm the details for your situation.
